Track Beauty of the Week: Ahn Jae-Hee 안재희

Ahn Jae-Hee 안재희 is this week’s track beauty!

The Korean sprint hurdler has improved dramatically in the past two years. At the 2009 Harry Jerome International, a track meet held annually in Vancouver, Ahn finished at a dismal fifth place, stopping the clock in 14.51s. She was horribly outclassed by seasoned, low-13 second hurdlers.

The Korean fared much better at the 86th Malaysian Open a few months later. This time around, Ahn crashed the top three, finishing behind the Indonesian veteran Dedeh Erwati (13.34s) and Filipino record holder Sheena Atilano (13.99s). Ahn shaved off two-hundredths of a second from her Vancouver time, with a hard fought clocking of 14.32s.

She barged into the final of the 90th Korean National Games the same month. However, she placed fourth (14.26s), missing the bronze by three-hundredths of a second. At the Korean National Games held earlier this year, Ahn won silver (14.09s) behind the 2010 Asian Games Champion, Lee Yeon-Kyung 이연경 (13.57s).
