Ivan Ukhov Ива́н Сергее́вич У́хов: From Drunk to World Record Contender
February 10, 2011Posted by on
I first heard about Ivan Ukhov Ива́н Сергее́вич У́хов during his infamous stint in Lausanne back in 2008. The talented Russian jumper, apparently intoxicated, missed an attempt so bad that he landed straight into the mat, without even grazing the bar. The incident was caught on tape.
Ukhov became the laughing stock of the athletics world. It turned out that the Russian drank a mixture of vodka and Red Bull prior to the competition. The IAAF issued a stern warning to Ukhov. As a result, he was left out of the high-level IAAF Grand Prix series.
